With the current situation I’ve not been going stir crazy, but more like new guitar crazy. All I seem to focus on is finding a new guitar. It’s actually a nice distraction. I certainly don’t have it worse than most. My wife and I are working full time from home whilst looking after/home schooling our 5 year old daughter. what I have found a challenge is the immediate switch required from work mode to Dad mode. I usually have a 1hr commute. I used to hate it, but now realise that was the time I used to process the day.
So, here’s my question.... if you had to order a new guitar today and had a £3k budget. What would you order?
It’s just for fun. I’m hoping your answers will send me down a joyous rabbit hole of guitar research.

3k... I don't think I'd need that much. My Towet, my Defaoite and of course the Akquarius are (or were) in this price range, but for now I would go for this one. Guild Troubadour Westerly

£3K budget...
I'd look for a second hand Martin 00018ge (and hope to have some change)... in fact I know where one is available for just over £2K but I'm skint...
I've also been doing a bit of guitar dreaming during lockdown - not that I can afford to buy anything but I've decided I'd like either:
a) Fylde Oberon but with a custom neck/bridge string spacing
or
b) Lowden S or F-25 with the 45/60 neck option

Not that I need any more guitars but I'd get either a triple 0-12 from Ralph Bown or a Model E from Kathy Wingert.

The Fairbanks that cottonopolis has for sale seems very appealing.

£3k? I'd use it as the deposit for a RosieTGC TG-E and hope I'd saved enough for the rest by the time it was ready

I would be looking at a 00 sized body but maybe something like an Adrian Lucas Pergola guitar ( I might have to follow Leo’s tactic).
It would be a spruce top and probably walnut back and sides, 12 feet cutaway to facilitate a longer scale than 24).
I might also consider one of Rosie’s smaller bodied guitars - don’t think I’d look much further than Adrian or Rosie.
As a bit of a curved ball I am very interested in the Emerald Carbon Fibre guitars - the X7 is an interesting small bodied guitar. Standard price is below £3k but I might add £400 for a custom/longer scale.

Again I definitely do not need any more guitars. However, I would get someone to make me a posh non classical necked nylon one if you forced me.

3K a good wedge I think I'd buy a few sets of everlasting self cleaning strings and a pot of Fairy Dust to sprinkle it on my Guild 12 string to lighten it and brighten it with some mop inlays!

Some great suggestions.
The Kathy Wingert E is beautiful, but her prices start at $14k!! Wow.
The Flydes are also beautiful, and something I have not considered before.
Currently my Martin 00-28 is the most extravagant guitar I own. This was second hand and below £2k. However, the guitar I play most is my Faith Legacy Earth. It’s a special that was produced with no pick-up and had the LR Baggs fitted after. It’s such a versatile guitar, sounds great plugged in and I’m not too worried about using it in the garden etc.
During this lockdown I have been haunted by koa guitars. I tried one in a shop years ago, but just didn’t have the money. The Taylor K24ce looks incredible. I don’t think I could ever justify spending over £4K on a guitar (although, I never thought I would spend £2k). There are some second hand available. Also they do a 424-k which is a very similar guitar, just with less bling that is available well below £3k.
Do any of you have experience with koa guitars?

Well, with a £3k budget I'd either be looking at a parlour or OO-size 12-fret, or one of Nick Oddy's (son of David Oddy) SK jumbos. If I went with the smaller guitar, then another Brook would be within the price range and would definitely be a contender. On the other hand, the Oddy would come in under budget and would leave room for a deposit on one of his tenor guitars or cuatros. But in reality I'll probably end up getting the bathroom redecorated

just realised that what I'd actually go for with £3K is a Waterloo WL-14 (Not sure if I'd got X or L braced)... I've got my 'pretty' sounding guitars, and what I'd like is a proper 'dry woody songwriter-y' one...
