Be really interested in hearing this, Dave. I've got very fond of the sorts of sounds Ed Gerhard gets out of his weissenborn style instruments.
Is the aim to end up with a detuned/lowered version of G tuning, or D tuning, or swap between both?

Leo - Keep taking the tablatures Kym - Thanks. I don't play a lot in Open G or it's derivatives on my lap slides, I tend to use Open D major and minor and DADGAD plus I'm having a lot of fun recently with DADDAD. So it will get played mostly I suspect in the Bb versions of these tunings. I have to agree with you about Ed Gerhard - "Homage" played live that used to be on Youtube is sublime.

Is there a good example of what sort of music you can expect to be played on this Dave? I know that Ed Gerhard get some beautiful sounds for example.

Wow, wow and thrice wow! What fabulous music. Thanks for lighting up my Sunday.
I cannot wait to hear you play. What a great way to mark your continuing, gentle maturation.
Having this week myself passed "the 50 plus VAT" mark I am looking forward more than ever to my own present, courtesy of Mr Bucknall. Patience has never been one of my strengths but the ever-increasing joy of anticipation is keeping me going.

Jack Rose also played a Weiss (which was built by Pete Howlett who occasionally posts on this forum).

Next the Bog Oak end graft is glued to the English Walnut end block using hot hide glue and the sides glued on together with a piece of black/ pear/ black purfling: The peghead then has two 8mm holes drilled in the rear for some 8mm carbon fibre tubes to go in to stiffen the hollow neck area: The sides are then glued to the peghead using fish glue: Meanwhile he top and back sets are marked on the English Walnut harp guitar set:

With the many years of practice, I am almost getting the hang of this birthday lark. No more news from Roger yet. He originally quoted 11 to 18 months and I am not quite at the earliest mark yet. The only problem is that the more time there is, the more opportunity these is to change your mind about the details! That said, I have enjoyed the research process immensely and it does not hurt to wait for the best, in this world of instant gratification and equally rapid disenchantment. Brian

Absolutely fantastic to see many people enjoying themselves making great music. Well done to all involved and especially the brilliant between Mick Jagger and Herbert von Karajan at the front.
