So I've been thinking! How about a Taran Mhor like the one Karine Polwart picked up last week. Perhaps in Cocobolo/Italian with a bevel? Ah, go on then, lad ... Leo

Nope, nothing less than cedar/mahogany, no bevel, delivered personally by Karine Polwart will suffice. In truth, whatever is likely to prove of most use to you Rory makes sense. If the Taran Mhor design has developed with time then that could well be the one.... Keith

Great idea! The size and shape should fit everyone and cocobolo is such a fine tonewood. As far as I remember you posted a cocobolo guitar on facebook a few months ago. That one was fantastic.
Rory, what do you think how long this road trip will be ?
I'm asking, because if it goes later than end of september, I'd love to take part while I'm in Halifax at HB5. Just for these 2 days. Only if it's possible and fits the timetable, of course.

Will do nicely for me too. Unlike Keith I would not insist that Ms Polwart deliver it in person. Any folksinger with a degree in philosophy would suffice .

That sounds very nice Rory; particularly interested in the bevel as I've not tried anything with one before...

(Note to self ... to be a little more careful, and specific, in what I wish for ...) .

Hi Folks, Great news! Glad you liked that Martin! Mandolins, I was hoping this year would see the first one but alas far too busy. Hopefully next year. (much easier if someone was to order one) Bernd, I think that it will still be going then, just let me know your details and dates and we'll work it out. Would be great to have you on board. Not a Folksinger but I know a delivery van man! Milk and 5 sugars tho!!! I'll start to look out woods soon. All the very best, Rory

Hi All, I hope that this finds you well. So almost a year ago (22 August) I asked if any one would be up for another road trip. Many of you where, many thanks. I haven't forgotten and now that the new workshop is finished and I'm back on some kind of even keel I would like to take you all up on your kind offer to road test one of my guitars. I have been thinking a lot about the guitar and as we discussed I think a Taran Mhor would be good. The Spec: Cocobolo 4 piece back Cocobolo double sides with Scottish Sycamore German Spruce top Cut Away Laskin Bevel Mosaic and glass rosette Nut 45mm Saddle 60mm Flat head stock but perhaps slotted I've started already and will keep you all updated with the build. I'm very busy on commission work and new Mandolins so it will be an on going build. I'm looking forward to it. All the very best for now, Rory Taran Guitars www.taranguitars.co.uk
