Pittenweem is not on the way up north, maybe I should pop in anyway when these are finished, very nice looking guitars… All things being equal, they should be at Halifax this year... I'll look forward to meeting them both then Alasdair, but not as much as I look forward to meeting their proud owner! Keith

Keith Thanks Keith. I have the feeling that Halifax is going to be a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to meeting new friends too. Alasdair.

Nice guitars! Both my Bashkins have double sides. Can I ask… why did you go for double sides? For myself, I was swayed when Rory sent me a TB to try which had double sides. It blew me away. Aside from that, I have no experience of guitars built this way. I'd be interested in your experience/opinion. Alasdair.

Alasdair, Bashkins are built with double sides as standard. www.bashkinguitars.comAccording to Michael Website on double sides: My building theory regarding the sides of the guitar is that they are mainly structural members of the soundbox. The stiffer and more stable the sides, the more of the strings energy is focused into the top. To maximize this effect, my guitars are constructed with a solid piece of wood glued to the interior face of the primary side. The net result is extremely stiff and stable sides, which helps create a responsive and powerful guitar. My Bashkins are very contemporary finger style guitars and are very different I have a spruce/rosewood OM and a 12 fret Redwood/mahogany 00 which is the best guitar I own. Russ

Russ,
That's more or less what Rory's thinking was about double sides. When I heard about it it seemed very logical - even more so when I played one!
Yours look lovely. How different from each other are they?
Alasdair.

You guys would have me bankrupt and divorced!
Lovely guitars, always wanted to try a Bashkin.
The Taran's look lovely. Harris is my favourite place in the world (well tied with Dalmatia, Croatia). A man who names his guitars after Harris landmarks is going on my watch list.

I recorded with my tirga baeg yesterday, really good to hear it mic'd properly and back through decent monitors. Mine is a great, great guitar but these with the refinements to design and double sides etc are going to be ridiculously good.
