So last nights gig was pretty special . After arriving at the green hotel and seeing the music memorabilia spread over every wall in the place , Crosby Stills and Nash , Springstein , Pink Floyd , Dylan , Steve Winwood , the Rolling stones and a huge selection of many more including about 6 signed stratocasters and telecasters it really is a music lovers perfect venue . As for Martyn himself he opened with Please sir one of his oldies and the evening continued like that , humour followed by songs new and old as well as a rousing version of im gonna be 500 miles (proclaimers) on uke , no surrender (springstein) and here comes the sun , and at my personal request a brilliant version of Cardiff bay . Instruments included were his old but gorgeous Lowden , Santa Cruz ,Martin , David Oddie tenor a uke and a strat each one played brilliantly . Martyn really knows how to please an audience his story telling craft is beautiful and compelling none more evident than near the end when he told the story and then played Clara a song from his latest album songs for the coming home , if youve never heard this please look it up its an amazing story that would bring even the most strong willed among us to our knees. Martyn remains as humble , meek and ultimately talented as always , a fantastic night out .

This charity concert is on near Devizes in Wiltshire next Saturday www.concertatthekings.co.uk/For those who still like a bit of electric rock type stuff! have seen the SAS Band many times, they are a group of highly experienced session musicians who have played with the whos who of the bands in the last 30 years, guitarist plays in Tom Jones Band, Keyboards was musical director and played for Queen, etc etc, they can play anything really well, these guys are good! Ive never seen 10cc live but most people whos opinion I respect who have seen them say they are also similarly bloody good musicians who can play just about anything really well. add to that numerous other great support acts looks like it could be good. Only word of caution its in a field behind a pub and its not in a Marquee so if the weathers crap youll get wet!

I'm off to see Martyn Joseph with my wife on Sunday at the PalmHouse in Sefton park, Liverpool. It's a wedding anniversary present to ourselves to celebrate 15 happy years (we've been married 29; I reckon 15 of them have been happy)

August 18th in Stockport. I'm hosting (and opening) a private house concert by Bonnie Bishop. She is the writer of the New York Times' 2012 song f the year, "Not Cause I Wanted To" which is on Bonnie Raitt's latest album Slipstream. You may have seen Bonnie Raitt performing the song on Later with Jools Holland a couple of weeks ago. This will be a very intimate event and a chance to see a rising star. www.bonniebishop.comSearch YouTube/not cause I wanted to/Bonnie Raitt for the Jools Holland video. Please contact for details.
