I agree. The first one was better BUT that’s probably a shared aversion to easy listening. I actually love both of them.

I have seen Eric Clapton play Layla over 30 times and I'm sure he's played it differently every time so if it's good enough for him....... A few years ago I was asked to join a friend to form an acoustic duo. Whilst rehearsing a song, he strummed the chords and sang whilst I fingerpicked around the chords to add a bit of depths and variety. He wanted to play as the original which only had one strummed guitar part and as such, we should both play the same thing. Whilst there is nothing wrong with this, the original recording also included bass, keyboards and drums so two guitars are never going to replicate that. If you are a solo artist you are never going to replicate a band recording and if I'm not mistaken, Shallow is done primarily on piano. Doing it differently is not a crime and often introduces songs to new audiences. Whitney Houston/Dolly Parton will 'Always Love us' in different ways and Gary Jules lived in a totally different 'Mad World' to Tears for Fears but both were very successful and enjoyable. Doing it differently is called an arrangement and orchestras do it with well established classical music all the time. Precisely.

I love telecasters and macaroni cheese. Adding bacon is sheer indulgence. Getting old IS shit so you take care of yourself.

Are you suggesting that doc might spill anything? When have you known a Scot spill anything (they may have bought)! French polish tastes horrible.
