Probably my favourite singer songwriter. Jazzy stuff a bit too much for me but brilliant songwriter in my opinion. Vinny

I agree with earthbalm re. reaming the end pin hole. I've fitted five now, but three of those had been pre-drilled for the jack socket. Mind you, the Lowden has a pinless bridge so I had to drill two tiny holes in the saddle slot to use as reference points. I blu tacked the three piezo discs to a cardboard jig and when I was happy with placement I applied the glue to all three at the same time. You can also use double sided tape, but the last two I bought didn't have this (or the glue) in the box. Sounds more complicated than it actually is. Using tape is easiest and also easily reversible. A friend of mine did this about four years ago and it never budged. Have fun,
Vinny

Elixir PhB for me. I know, most ppl here do not like them, but for me they are perfect. 12s and 13s, depending on the guitar. A man after my own heart. vinny

I have a T.C. Helicon Harmony Singer. Great bit of kit when used sparingly. It analyses your guitar chord and the note you're singing to produce harmony, and harmony type and volume can be adjusted. Keith is spot on re sparse notes - if you play only a bass/root note, for instance, it can't distinguish whether it's major or minor. Also, harmonising bum vocal notes can be interesting! Great for Crosby, Stills and Nash songs though. (Nash must have had seriously tight trousers.)

I busked in my teens and enjoyed it a lot. There’s a great freedom to it, but it all comes down to the location. I found midsize towns much more friendly and generous than bigger cities. Nothing to lose by giving it a try. Vinny

Thank you, I really enjoyed that. Stefan seems like a very down to earth guy as well as an amazing luthier. Nice to see your own humility in an earlier post about Pierre Bensusan and Eric Roche, but most guitarists only aspire to your and their standards, me amongst them. Incidentally, Eric’s book, The Acoustic Guitar Bible is the best instructional book I’ve ever seen. Thanks again, Vinny.

I have an Avalon A380 Sitka over Cocobolo. The bass response is really clear and easily my favourite guitar (of mine) for Fingerstyle. The notes are more fundamental and less overtones in the bass than my irw backed guitars. It’s also the best amplified (with a K&k pickup.) Vinny

I have two Avalons and one Lowden and quality wise there’s nothing between them - equally good but not the same. The Avalons are not the same as each other either. Great guitars but you must play to decide if any guitar is for you. Vinny

Must admit I'm not a fan either. However, as a few here have already said, I can remember lyrics I accidentally learned by osmosis in my teens, yet now find it hard work to learn new songs. I think my hard drive is full.
