There’s a reason slot heads fell out of fashion ;-)

I'm playing a set at Brum's chaos Acoustic Club on Sunday 20th Jan. I'll be playing with multi instrumentalist Roger Reed. Also featured will be English Jones, one of our best local acoustic bands. Chaos Acoustic

It just goes to show, you have to go a long way to avoid annoying your neighbours with the banjo!

Takemine make a very decent guitar. They are of course, best known for their amplification and are about as good as you can get for an easy, stage ready guitar. Acoustically I find they are always nice and mellow if not a bit limited — sometimes I think bland.
If you are going to be playing this purely acoustically then there may be other better options but plugged in this will almost certainly be good. The crossover design makes a far better option for steel string players.

I just wanted to put my own twopence in here. (Not been around much and not had much to say) I agree with Slidingwolf, lavaman and andyhowell completely. I've heard people who are technically very good, some would say perfect, but to my ears their playing sounds soulless. I have heard players who are not so good but "felt" what they were playing who moved me very much. I have never for years worried about the right notes (just as well if you've heard me LOL) what it feels like seems so much more important, to me anyway. If it feels right to you its the right way to play it. Quite right. There is music and there is music!
I think many of us were educated to be in awe of classical musicians. This was proper music, after all players had studied for years and years to be able to play this stuff. But this is only one form of music.
Music should be joyful and played for pleasure and the entertainment of others. I guess most of us know that a limited technique played with enjoyment and passion is better than something studied and cold. That is not to say that classical music an not be passionate and wonderful. It often is. But it is just one form of music.
A kind of musical snobbery is difficult to shake off. My father-in-law really enjoys his music though he rarely listens to it and he tries very hard to appreciate some form of classical music because he has been told that is fine and real quality stuff. But, watch his face light up if frank Sinatra comes on. He loves that stuff but finds it hard to admit it because it isn't quality enough!
He grew up in Ireland and like so many of his generation he left to come to England to study. Ireland then, for many, was an illiberal and stifling place. I've gone back with him every couple of years for many years now. For me there is real joy in discovering the music but he is always a bit suspicious. He can just about cope with Irish Traditional music (so long as he doesn't have to listen to it that much) but anything approaching country sends him into a panic. He really can't cope with the notion he might like some of it. John Williams once told him the Country Music was really poor, bad, music and so he can't entertain it! I met John Williams once a few years ago and found him to be a right arrogant so and so. But there's no arguing that he's had a big impact on what my father-in-law considers music!

I have an SE Reflection Filter which I bought to try and tame room reverberation. It didn't really help back then and so I used some absorption treatment on the walls and ceilings. I tend to still use the SW RF for vocals when they are being recorded separately. I think the best vocal sound i get is using the SE and the mic in an omni mode. My neighbour has a recording studio in his house and he often borrows it — eh reckons it does make a difference.
However, the most important thing is the basic sound of your room. If this is not good then the filter won't help.

Here’s another great song that I can’t play One of my current faves. That strumming style is imamaculate.

As an aside, it's hard to see how this happened in transit, I.e. due to the transit process. It doesn't seem like the cause of a knock or impact to me. It looks almost impossible for that damage to have happened in transit. But it probably helps with categorising the damage and dealing with quality and returns! The Faith designs and general operation are Impressive but they seem to have really increased production as well as the model range and I do wonder.

Keep them coming!

Thanks everyone. Labour in Norway is also typically more expensive than in UK, so looks like I will be persuing a return. Thanks again for the advice. It might be worth just asking for a new guitar. Under U.K. consumer law you would have the right to do that as if is a consumer product - my guess is Norway is at least as food

Songwriting was one of the focuses of the Halifax gathering this year. It makes me wonder about our favourite songwriters at the moment — mainly because there are always new people to discover,
So, who are your favourite songwriters who are writing at the moment? So, no old legends unless they are still doing it. But who do you think is doing it today?

A very helpful contribution Colin!
Clearly, the final quality checking at Faith is not anywhere near as good as it should be. Just from the shows I’ve been to this year it seems Faith are ratcheting up production. At the very least this thread profiles the rest of us with a bit of a warning!
Hope you get it sorted.

I just tried tuning my Martin using a strobe tuner at the 3rd fret and it sounds pants. I’ll just stick to playing slightly out of tune. It has done no harm to many famous players ;-)

That does not look good for me. I know there is the issue of cost but I’m not sure I’d want to risk sending it back.
If it sounds good then stick with it and save up to find somebody who can put a new bridge on it. I presume - Colin - that is possible?
