Some people are blessed with a singing voice that's instantly recognisable. Some people are blessed with a guitar tone that's instantly recognisable. BB King got both.
He was a great showman who never forgot that music is supposed to be fun.
Rest in peace, BB.

What a lovely guitar. I love the understated decoration - you don't need anything fancy when the woods look this good. Bowns are high on my list of guitars that I've never played but would love to try. Enjoy yours!

I've played a few Stonebridges, though mostly a few years ago so not the latest models. The ones I played were well-made guitars - quite bright and punchy in sound, not really dripping with overtones but nice and responsive. My favourite was a sitka/mahogany OM that had a nice dry, bluesy sound.
Unfortunately, the OM was made in the days of Stonebridge's sick-dalmation-effect pickguards. I liked the guitar, but the pickguard was truly awful. I think (and hope!) they've stopped using them now.

Great playing, Phil, and the guitars sound great - both of them have that kind of natural reverb and choral sound that seems to be typical with Brooks. It isn't making the 8 months or so that I still have to wait for my next one any easier!

Surely the correct answer is "one fewer than I really need".

Congratulations! I haven't played many Faiths, but I've liked all of them.
I have to admit that trembesi is a new one to me, but it looks great.

I once heard a classical music teacher say to one of her students after a performance that "you know how to make a mistake". She meant it as a compliment. What she was saying was that if the performer makes a mistake and looks frustrated or uncomfortable, the audience will feel the same way. If the performer makes a mistake and laughs it off, chances are the audience will too.
I try to remember this whenever something goes wrong in a performance. We all make mistakes, but how you deal with them can play a big part in whether or not you keep the audience on your side.

Just a thought, but could you cut down a clear pickguard to go over the signature? It shouldn't be visible unless someone was looking really closely, and would protect the signature for evermore.

Country isn't usually my thing, but I'm becoming a bit addicted to this pair. I saw them on a BBC Elvis tribute a while ago and really liked what they did with their song (see second video).

I'm surprised it's variable back and sides. I thought it was the top that made the most difference - not that I know anything whatsoever about guitar construction or sounds. That's certainly what a lot of luthiers say, but I think the view of a lot of customers is probably different. There still seems to be fairly widespread view that (for example) a rosewood guitar sounds one way and a mahogany one sounds another way. I think what Fylde want to do is test whether players' ideas of the way different woods sound match up with what they think of the woods when they don't know which is which.

The conventional wisdom is that the truss rod isn't for action adjustments, but I think this assumes that the truss rod itself is already set up properly. With a fairly new guitar, it might be that the truss rod needs a bit of adjustment which would also have an effect on the action. If the action has changed since you bought the guitar, this might mean that the neck has moved a little as it settles in. It's probably worth checking the neck relief before you do anything drastic to the action.

I've never used a locking method. I just put the string through the tuning post, turn the post through about 90 degrees, then pull it tight as I tune the rest of the way. Seems to work ok, and I don't tend to have any problems with the tuning slipping.
I usually go for 2-3 wraps round the post.

It's been reported in the last few minutes that John Renbourn has been found dead after failing to arrive for a gig. He was 70. Too young.
