Thanks I thoroughly enjoyed that, I was tempted to order the same woods for my Turnstone but went Aussie Blackwood instead of Mahogany. Anyone on the fence about ordering a Turnstone should go for it.
I’ve been enjoying revisiting The Bramble Briar and Righteousness and Humidity as my soundtrack on the train to work this week.

Excellent video on Dakota David Hull’s guitar collection, even some banjos!

Phil, I use them on 24.75inch scale Santa Cruz 00, 24.9 Santa Cruz Skye 00, 25.0 Turnstone and 25.4 Bashkin 00. All 12 fret guitars, only my ladder braced Wandering Boy doesn’t have SC low tension strings. Sorry not metric scales!

Phil, I use a few tunings with Santa Cruz Low Tension, to me they feel similar to 12s. I keep one guitars in D standard and my Bashkin spends most time in CGCGCE. They are fine in DADGAD too. I played an excellent East Guitars baritone recently which was strung with Santa Cruz baritone strings.

I love Nick Drake's music. A singular and unmatched talent. You can see the darkness coming on in the third album, Pink Moon. I sort of feel the same way about John Fahey, in a way, though Fahey lived to be 62 and left behind a substantial body of work. The music of the last 10-12 years of his life was pretty weird and rambling, I guess I would say, compared to the tight, structured, brilliant compositions of his earlier days, like "Sunflower River Blues" and "Red Pony" among many others. But he was going down in an alcoholic spiral, basically ended up living in a room in a seedy motel, surrounded by cassette tapes and the detritus of a crumbling life. Very sad. If folks are interested in Fahey's life, I would recommend searching the documentary called "In Search of Blind Joe Death: The Saga of John Fahey". Really illuminating but painful, too. I second that great documentary on Fahey along with the one on his mate Robbie Basho “Voice of an eagle”.

I have Santa Cruz Low tensions on 4 guitars now, only my Wandering Boy doesn’t have them. Just put them on the Turnstone for the first time. Definitely my favourite strings.

I had a mate who played the pipes of the elbow. In truth he spent more time fettling reeds than playing the things. Cello would be my answer to the original question. So emotive, so versatile. Keith Cello for me too. I love how it complements the guitar and the cellos steal the show on my favourite Bjork albums Homogenic.

Nice I love the colour. I had a blues junior 4 with an eminence speaker. I sold it when I got a cracking deal on a Tone King Gremlin amp. I recently traded a guy for a Fender 58 Champ, which complements the Gremlin. I’m all for low watt amps, keeps the wife and neighbours happy.

Haven’t seen DT but I had the pleasure of watching Nels Cine a few times. Do you like Rod Poole at all?
Yes years back you recommended Death Adder to me. I listened to it again at work today. Great stuff.

Good guitars get better the more you play them. My Santa Cruz Skye gets better every year, but it’s come alive and really opened up over the past year. It’s about 4 years old now. I also like to keep strings on till they are nearly dead.
