24 hours later Amazon delivers. Room with a View, as Phil said is brilliant. I recently read Bill Frisel’s biography too, great read.

very nice. World's Fair is one of my top 5 albums. And I can't believe that I missed his most recent album with Bill Frisell! Just listening to it now. Is that 'View with a Room'? It's brilliant. So is the newer one 'The Layers'. Top stuff. I miss your videos mate 😔 Phil Thanks Phil just ordered both. I love Worlds Fair as well.

What a stunning guitar that is Russ. Beautiful in all respects and MW certainly makes it sing. My Lamorna is seen a few times in a 'Britain's Rare Guitars' video where they visit the Brook workshop but it must be nice to have a guitar you own featured in a video with Michael playing it. Congratulations Phil Thanks Phill is the video on YouTube? Your comment on Facebook reminded me I need to post a thread here, cheers!

At the end of 2020 I got the blessing from my wife to order a Turnstone for my 50th birthday. I wanted a British flavoured acoustic and after watching many Michael Watts’ videos and the fact that Martin Simpson had got a Turnstone, I contacted Rosie. I only play fingerstyle and have moved completely to 12 fret guitars. After Skype calls and emails with Rosie I settled on a 12 fret TM with a Swiss Moon Spruce top. I wanted something different to rosewood and mahogany and we settled on Tassie Blackwood. Many guitars down under are made of that wood. I ordered a 46mm nut and 25 inch scale. The neck is a V and the same profile as my Santa Cruz Eric Skye 00. Carolyn at Santa Cruz gave me the neck dimensions and Rosie has replicated this to a tee on the TM, it just feels like home. Like all my acoustics this has a beautiful slot headstock with the Turnstone bird carve and Waverley tuners. The blue purfling through out the guitar is amazing. Rosie took some fancy pictures: 5D8A6DB5-0866-427B-BD58-FD72C348ED71 by Russell Lewis, on Flickr 02AEDDA0-7267-41B0-9089-F9CE6207E668 by Russell Lewis, on Flickr 3FF01533-C854-4B7C-9AA9-7A70077B14F9 by Russell Lewis, on Flickr D4A6F3C5-E202-4298-BDAF-917D2FC39656 by Russell Lewis, on Flickr I have had the guitar about 4 weeks. When it arrived in to Brisbane DHL said they couldn’t deliver for 3 days but I was able to straight to their depot to pick it up. Handy living near the airport. This guitar has more than exceeded my expectations. I’ve owned a number of guitars over the past 30 plus years, but this is something special. It’s so musical and I just lose myself playing it. It’s hard not to wax lyrical about the guitar and I look forward to how the guitar will open up and develop as I play it over the forthcoming years. I keep it tuned half a step down but it’s also lived in D standard tuning and my other favourite CGCGCE. I’ve put Stringjoy 12s on it but will also give Santa Cruz low tensions a try as well. I had the pleasure of exchanging emails with Michael about my guitar. He’s a great player.

Andrew Lardner’s superb take on Bert Jansch instrumental Chambertin. If you haven’t listened to Bert’s River Sessiins I highly recommend that you do.
I support Andrew on Patreon. He posts lessons for his videos and the tab and his John Fahey book is worth getting.

Nice Tele. I’m always on the hunt for a good one. I had a Mexican Jason Isbell Tele but that went to pay for my Novo. I have a friend on the Sunshine Coast who makes great Fender style guitars and amps. I aim to have one of his teles one day plus he makes great Champ style amps.

A few years ago went to the local guitar shop, it was close to closing time, tried a few guitars, found one I liked, but rather than making a snap decision, left without buying it. The same night I kept thinking about the guitar, and made my mind up to buy it. So the next day up bright and early, got to the guitar shop before it opened I was the only one their. Ten minutes later the door opened, so went straight to the guitar I was going to buy, one little play, thought yes this is the one, hung it back on the wall so I could just have one quick look around, before buying it, two minutes later went back to pick the guitar up, and it wasn't there, a man was walking up to the counter with it, he paid for it, and left the shop, still remember that guitar. I had a similar experience with a Nash Telecaster. Thought I’d sleep on it big mistake someone else got it. I’ve played a number of Nash Teles since but none have spoke to me like the Mary Kaye White 52 Telecaster with a boat neck. In terms of two I wish I still had they would be my Martin HJ38 Stefan Grossman signature, that went to pay some big bills and my Tim Kill Weissenborn which went to fund my ES335.

Congratulations Taylor make great guitars. My main guitar for ten years was a 2000 714CE and my kids share a GS mini. All my acoustic guitars are now 12 fret slot heads. If a guitar speaks to you then all the better.

I use String joy 11’s on my electrics, so I bought some acoustic ones as my favourite Brisbane guitar shop stocks them. I would have to order Newtones from the UK.

Thank you for all the suggestions. gsans. I used to use Wyres quite a lot about 10 years ago. Didn't know they were still around. Will investigate. My short scale guitar has a warning inside saying not to use anything heavier than lights, so am a bit worried about going for an entire medium set. Welshruss. how do you find the santa cruz strings? Are they on the Eric Skye? Do you find them floppy at all? If I went for these I would be tempted to go for the medium tension ones, but both sets come with a huge 6th string, so would definitely need a bit of a nut fettle. What I am tempted to do is just buy individual D'Aaddario XS strings, something like 13, 17, 24, 32, 44, 55. Trouble is this will work out to over £30. But, when I think about it, if I bought some newtones I would need to buy at least 3 or 4 sets to last as long as the XS, possible even more as the XS on my guitar have been on since September and still going strong. They last a lot longer than Elixir. I did have an issue with flaking on the G string, but it seems to be as less of an issue than Elixir. I think £30 for a set of strings that in all probability will last 4 to 6 months is probably quite economical. Thanks again Robbie Hi Robbie, I’ve been using a Santa Cruz low tension strings fit years now, on my 3 00-12 guitars. 24.75, 24.9 and 25.4 scale lengths. I tune down all my guitars and I don’t find them floppy at all. On my new Wandering Boy parlour guitar I have String Joy Natural strings 12 to 54. These are good too. Russ

I used Santa Cruz low tensions on my 00-12s and have Stringjoy 12s on my Wandering Boy. I’ve started playing allot in D standard tuning .
