minorkey yes, that's a great book, too. I made good progress on that one, but again, lack of commitment means I'm back towards the beginning. Sigh.

Slowly getting back into the clarinet in preparation for (possibly) using it in the duo if (a) we ever get any gigs and (b) I can get enough confidence, licks, and remember a few tunes. Oh, and (c) if I can erase the squeaks!
Just a Bb blues composed by James Rae who's written a lot of books, many aimed at beginners, such as this piece which is in Bb, but that's actually C on the clarinet which is always a bonus :-)

I don't yet feel Christmassy, I must say. But then I'm a grumpy old soul when it comes to this time of year.

I bought some tuners from the USA recently. They cost me just over £100. The tuners were $80 / £65, the rest was postage. I don't recall there being any import / customs fees.

I *think* I've stopped, although I will probably buy a parlour one day. I currently have too many for the space available and so really need to reduce the herd. With this in mind I did advertise one of my guitars recently, got some interest, then took the guitar out to check it over and realised how lovely it is, so I withdrew the guitar from sale...

Written for the Clarinet Beginners Group - a version of Amazing Grace, all in the lower register, and aside from a couple of easy-to-finger triplets, nothing faster than eighth notes. Each chorus builds on the preceding one, until the last chorus when I take a line we've played before and play it three times over the sequence.
I do deviate slightly from what I've written - but that's the blues...

Try E7 instead of Em.

Indeed. A very beautiful guitar! I've recently become very enamoured with the playing of Bucky Pizzarelli, I believe he was a D'Angelico man. Nice little collection, there, too!

You can play gypsy jazz on any guitar. Indeed, many of the old videos of the masters (in their early days) show these guys playing on whatever guitar was at hand. But the GJ specific guitars do have a certain sound and vibe, and if nothing else, help generate enthusiasm to practice!

Does look like a good deal with the extras on the guitar. Going to join the club?

That x175b is a beauty! I used to have a Gretsch Electromatic in blue, and it was great for rockabilly and Eddie Cochran style stuff, but it was prone to feedback so I let it go. I fo have a softspot for those types of guitar.

Gypsy Jazz on a Telecaster....
It's a long story, but essentially I bought this Tokai Telecaster back in 1984/5 as a back-up to my 79 Strat. I still have the Strat and, were I to ever play in a proper band again, it would still be my main guitar. Meanwhile, I was always happy with this beautiful pink paisley Telecaster, too, but over the years the frets got so low that I bought another Telecaster as my back-up guitar and this Tokai ended up at the back of the cupboard. Anyway, I've just had the Tokai re-fretted, a new nut, and a set-up and now it plays as sweet as it ever did. The luthier remarked on how nice this Tokai was, and how "the truss rod worked well once we removed and greased the threads and contact faces of the adjuster nut. The board surface was perfectly 'true'....nice to see on something of this age." This was one of the "lawsuit era" copies. All in all, if ever I need something other than an acoustic, I'm now set-up to continue life with what was almost my first two electrics (*) to the end of my days :-)
(*) I had a cheap Arbiter Les Paul copy before the Strat.
Alas, I haven't been playing much electric so for demo purposes I've had to choose an acoustic song played electrically...
Cheers D

Can you do the washing up without having a harmonica in a rack these days, though?
