Am working on something for the O'Carolan Project too, can't promise any adornments though. Is yours on the banjer Martin? I didn't want to put anyone off, but yes Joe - the banjer is involved What about yours? Mandolin based hopefully?? Yes am learning on mando but may record it on octave mando. I've never recorded my tenor banjo so that's an option too. Too many choices!

Keith - sorry I seem to have overlooked your earlier post. Bridge Over Troubled Water-based Acrylic?

I used to own a Cashimira - bought pretty much on impulse while on holiday in Spain. I sold it eventually as I don't do classical these days, but it was a lovely instrument and was probably the thing that galvanised my interest in music and acoustic guitars.
I think they're not bad value even at the UK price but anyone passing the workshop in Spain should definitely pay a visit - they do a fascinating tour of the factory (even if you don't speak Spanish!) and have a decent selection of freshly made classical and flamenco guitars to try - and buy!
Would love to see any photos and recording of your purchase Toby.
Cheers

Just bought my ticket, looking forward very much to meeting Dave and Keith again, and Mark for the first time.
Given the venue is called the High Barn, I think we could dub this HB3.5?

Thanks for the overview Dave, prompted me to put my instrument into CGCGCD and try a few things. I haven't yet composed anything that I like in this tuning yet. I think am struggling with the "diatonic pair" (CD) on the 1st and 2nd string - if that is where the melody goes, the effective range is only nine notes and most tunes exceed that (though I know there is a tradition of pipe tunes that are confined within that). I've had much more success with DADGAD where the diatonic pair is on the 2nd and 3rd. Or even Carthy's CGCDGA which has two such pairs.
I shall persevere though. I love listening to Nic Jones and Martin Simpson compositions in this tuning so I think I am probably overthinking, or underthinking. Or both.
Cheers

This is so good that even an appearance by Jimmy Saville can't spoilt it:

fretboard is then glued on using fish glue and the cocktail sticks removed: Are they the little cheesy pineapple ones?

Fascinating article and nicely presented thank you to everyone involved. Enjoyed the Talisker track reminded me of Richard Thompson for some reason.
Are there any photos of a London Plane guitar? There is such a tree next to my allotment which I would dearly love to fell, it casts shade on my plot even on the longest days!
Where might one find a Symonds guitar to try?

Thanks Keith - can't claim credit for that one I saw it on another guitar forum recently. But it is now one ovine-umber of sheep-related puns that I shall try to ram in wherever possible.

Oh no, they aren't using horsemeat in Brook guitars now are they....?! Keith Don't know about horsemeat in a Brook guitar, but I'm pretty sure they'd never use laminate ...

Hello Dave. Have only just joined so probably not qualified as an "active member" yet but certainly interested in taking part!
Hoping to be at East Anglia show too - will probably bring Ceol Binn II with me.
cheers

Quite a startling piece of PR from Blaze!
Oddly, I thought they had finally sorted some of their technical problems - after the recent "lost week", I found that the site actually remembered my password when logging in, which it hadn't done for months.
Very happy to be registered here now though.
Cheers
