Have actually recorded my new tune at last , a piece for solo mandolin. Had to do it in sections and edit them together as I still haven't quite cracked it. Thanks Dave - this one is for you and CBT - it's been great fun! I spent Friday afternoon at one of my favourite spots and took lots of pics and vids. I've cobbled together a suitable "travelling" vid to wish CBT goodbye. The tune seems even more mournful with the vid! Audio only version is here - www.box.com/s/p3j225gbm49jbdt7m2wjBen ( jackorion ) should be here shortly to kick off the next leg of the Road Trip, so it'll be good to meet. I changed the strings on CBT after doing the above recording, and have done one more final recording to upload soon, maybe to go with the review....shortly..... Keith

Keith, As that video started I could see what was coming and started shouting "Don't jump CBT, don't jump" That was like "Brief Encounters" but thankfully without underpants and without Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard What can I say - another piece of fabulous music written for me. I'm touched - always have been - and that was very evocative and wonderfully played. If it ain't baroque, then don't fix it I hope the handover goes well this afternoon.

Anyone would think you were upset at saying goodbye to CBT

Thanks Dave - glad you enjoyed! Handover? Well, not quite what we planned! Ben rang shortly after our due meeting time to say that his car had broken down (couldn't select any gears) in Bridgwater, and he was waiting for the AA to arrive in an estimated hour or so, and maybe he could collect CBT next weekend... As he was only 15 mins away I grabbed CBT and found where he was waiting. So the handover had to take place there and then - Not quite sure why I'm looking so horrified, even at the prospect of CBT moving on. Pleased to see that Ben is a bit of a beardy blokey too! The time until the AA man arrived passed quickly with guitar/mando/Fylde chat and the news that Ben's Fylde will be arriving in a few days time - so we will need to meet again before too much longer for some Fylde fun. Mr AA had good news - the problem was confined to a worn out linkage in the gear changing mechanism, and he managed to cobble it back together temporarily with some cable ties and thick wire. Now that's my kind of car maintainance. He even gave Ben some spare ties and wire in case it went again on his way home. So, with CBT in hand - Ben was able to set off carefully back towards home. Hope you make it/ made it OK! Lovely to have met you Ben, even under such circumstances - have a great time with CBT, and with your Fylde when it arrives soon - looking forward to hearing how you get on with each instrument, and looking forward to a more leisurely meet up at a future date. Keith

What a nightmare - arghhh, cars, hate them! You weren't tempted to do a bit of impromptu busking then?

Lovely tune and video to match. I could imagine the tune played on a lute - really good.
Well done and the handover photo narrative give me a few chuckles.
Phil

Thanks Phil - I did rather want to achieve something vaguely classically/middle ages/renaissanceish kind of thingy! I've just uploaded a load of pics of CBT to its own gallery here - www.acousticsoundboard.co.uk/thread/1123/ceol-binn-taistealai-whites-mandolinI have one more tune to post, a 3 x CBT multitrack, that I did right after putting the new strings on and just before handing the mando on. Really crisp sustaining sound! Not mixed/balanced the three parts yet. Might use some of the gallery pics to provide a visual backdrop for the tune when I get round to sorting it! Keith

Keith, Those are some cracking pictures although CBT looks small and sad in some of the train station ones - like one of "The Railway Children" Looking forward to the threesome recording.

Keith The nut width looks really wide. When I think back my Eastman was 28mm - too narrow. The mando looks great in these photos - well done Keith Phil

Thanks Phil - I enjoy hanging around on Crowcombe Station at any time, and was glasd of an excuse to go so i could take the pics!
The nut is 34mm - v guitarist friendly! My Fylde is 30mm so CBT has a fair bit more space - more of which in review. Don't know how you coped with 28mm!
