I want one that is modified so I can play it standing up, with a strap, like a guitar. I saw one once, I can't remember what was modified but it didn't look much different from a normal dulcimer. Hmmmm.... You probably just need two strap pins - one at each end - and then play it like Jerry Douglas plays his Dobro standing up.

Just a quick update for those interested. Dave is making great progress with the "Sparrowhawk". This ain't gonna be no ornery mountain dulcimer. Check it out here........ www.defaoiteguitars.com/page56.htm

Slight deviation, there is a chap Jack Warshaw who goes to Martin Woods Backporch who plays an appalachian mountain harp.
This is the only picture I can find of one and your right thats not him playing it.

Dave, that's just beautiful, frankly. The chalk horse designs are inspired.

Thanks guys. Using the De Faoite "hares" was Vic's idea (they were drawn for me by my daughter Martha) and the Sparrowhawks my idea. I'm very pleased with the look.
