I like the idea of green flashes. Excellent news it's progressing well.
I'll send you some links very soon - perhaps diamonds? (Only joking.)

I'll send you some links very soon OK - and don't forget to look out a set of La Bella Medium tension Flamenco strings if they are cheaper over there - maybe you could ask the friendly folk on the AGF where you could get the best deal Your name's not "Ever" and everyone knows that diamonds are for "Ever"

Okay Dave, will do. Something like this? Simple and transparent though like we've discussed. Jonny

I ordered the strings, La Bella Flamenco and D'Addario Flamenco, to compare. Shall I post them to you?

Jonny,
Thanks for the golpeador picture and just bring the strings back with you - the old ones I have will do fine to restring after finishing but you'll appreciate some new ones on it once you have it.

The lacquer on the back, sides and neck has been initially leveled and will be polished up later. Next the fingerboard is polished (having first sorted an issued with frets 14 and 15 being high) and the top sanded through the sandpaper grits from 120 to 320 and then polished up with Micromesh to 12000 grade. For shellac and oil finishes you essentially level and polish the guitar and then lay on thin films of finish. For lacquer finishes you sand to 240 grit to allow the lacquer to adhere and then apply the finish which is leveled and polished. Here's the sanded/polished top: Here's the top after the shellac seal coats have been wiped on: And here's the first oil coat on the top: These oil coats are built up slowly and then left to fully dry. Then the top will be Micromeshed up to 12,000 grade. This is where the "magical sound" disappears . . . or . . . gets even more "magical"

It's looking really good, great to see each stage... let's hope for more "magical".

Looking really good (although, and it's probably my gammy eyes, but I can't tell a difference between the 3 photos)

It looks as if the bass side of the rosette got some punishment in that photo. Would you prefer the golpeadors to go to the sound-hole edge instead?

Not sure what the norm is, but seems like a good idea; it will be great to be able to give it a bashing and not worry about the marks.

It looks stunning - brilliant piece of work and a credit to you both.
I had not come across the term "golpeador" before. Shall keep it in reserve for crosswords and Scrabble, if Leo doesn't write a song about it first...

Might make a rhyme with, amongst other things, Toreador... hmmm .... She looks fantastic davewhite and jonnymosco. Looking forward to hearing some of that Flamenco stuff
