Another question. As this is - generally speaking- an acoustic forum, what are the limitations on editing the acoustic original ? Is any software/hardware enhancement allowed ? The rules don't say. The same goes for the vokes. Now then, judges- there's a bit of soul-searching for yers ......... This is a composition competition, so it is the quality of the composition that is critical, not necessarily the performance, though that should of course be competent. ( Extract ) Colin Thanks for that, Colin. That will make things clearer for entrants who are more into recording.

Being an instrumental type of acoustic fan words usually pass me by but these first two songs I have listened to have both kept my interest. Enjoyed 'Rosebery Murders' Mark and some nice descending bass lines too Cheers Phil

Great lyrics on 'Getaways' Pete - brought back some memories of my own. Vocal style reminded me of Martin Carthy. Good song. Phil

soundout ... "St Leonard's" was just magical. I love the way it built up with the added tracks throughout the recording yet the lead melody still stayed strong and clear. A more than worthy entrant.

But, lovely though it is, I was under the impression that the competition is for a SOLO guitar piece (or song accompanied by solo guitar) and not a multitracked piece. Oops!

I haven't listened to any of the entries so far, I'm waiting until the competition closes, but yes the competition as stated in my original post is for solo guitar or solo guitar plus voice, so multi-tracking would not be allowed. So I'm afraid that any entry multi-tracked entry wouldn't be considered. But, in fairness, as this is a composition competition, if Alistair wanted to re-record his original piece as a solo guitar one and re-post it, then that would be fine and counted as his entry. Colin

Ah, OK, thanks for pointing this out. I just got carried away with making a piece of music and didn't reread the rules. I'll up.oad it again in all its naked fumbling glory!

Oops - I'll need to take out my extra one man backing vocal in the chorus of my piece then! I'm getting very bad for not reading things properly the older I get. Mark
