Oh, my! What a stonking prize for some lucky bugger. I have a feeling that this is going to bring out the best in a number of forum members - but sadly not me as 'original composition' isn't really what I do! I might just try something, though, to try and get the sympathy vote Good on yer, colins, you're following in the footsteps of your good friend and fellow luthier davewhite and I hope this guitar goes to as worthy a winner!

Oh wow!, I had an idea to do a blues song, maybes now is the time to put it into action, and I'll record it if my camera decides to un-bugger itself!

Scottish Forum members might wish to pray that they are still in the United Kingdom when the closing date for the competition arrives, and not in the Untied Kingdom (anag)

Lovely guitar - someone's going to be a happy bunny there! I don't think there's enough time, even if it's as long as it takes for the build, for me to learn how to do guitar composition. Not to mention doing the piece justice by playing the damn thing properly. Mark

Three or four chords, Mark, arranged in a pleasing order and some words over the top. That's my strategy

Hi, U.K. Guitar Friends--What a wonderful idea. Should lead to many, many great compositions. If I have this straight, I'm a member of the forum but I live in the U.S.; thus, I'm not eligible for the competition? Just checking. Cheers and Best, Jack

Cheers and Best, Jack Hi Jack, I've just moved your post from the previous thread (only for competition entries) to this one - for comments on the competition. Hope that's OK with you. Sadly, you are correct in that you are ineligible for the competition. Colin, the luthier who is to build the guitar, advises us that the Brazilian Rosewood to be used does not have the appropriate paperwork to enable the finished guitar to be taken out of the UK, hence only UK based members may enter. Sorry if this is disappointing. Keith

I'm amazed by the generosity of Colin S and it's wonderful idea.
Is there a deadline for the competition?
