Can I ask a question, please, Colin?
This may sound stupid, but is there a reason why you finish the guitar and then scrape off the finish where the bridge goes rather than masking off the bridge area when finishing?

What you get used to I suppose...

This may sound stupid, but is there a reason why you finish the guitar and then scrape off the finish where the bridge goes rather than masking off the bridge area when finishing? If I was spraying a finish, then I might mask off and then spray, there could still be a problem of build up around the masking to be levelled later. However, I apply hand rubbed finishes, and it is far easier to get a good even smooth finish by applying it to the whole top and then removing the finish to glue the bridge, it also ensures a much more accurate and clean edge around curved bridges. As in most things there is no correct way, just the one that suits you best, and which produces the result that you're after. The best way if masking the bridge area prior to applying the finish, which most of the US custom makers use, is to mask an area .25mm smaller all round than the bridge, then rout a 0.125mm step into the bottom of the bridge so that it fits over the edge of the finish. To me that's a bit of a bodge, but does get the job done.

Strings are on and initial set-up carried out, I have the set-up strings on it at the moment, which have seen a few guitars ion their time, but already it is sounding pretty good, I'll let it settle in for a few days then add the clear guard and strap pins, then it'll be off to the lucky winner. (PM me for my BACS details)
First job was to set the compensation, (don't get me started!), I use the old 'B' string method where you use a cut off from a B string to act as a moveable saddle.
When all six positions are established, the saddle is shaped.
A few quick pictures of the finished guitar, I'll post some better pictures later. Forgive the loose string ends, as I said this is my set-up strings, so I don't cut the ends off of these, the set it will have will be all neat and tidy!
Competition closes at midnight on Sunday 28th August, if you would like to add this guitar to your arsenal, well you haven't got long.
Colin
