I realise this is last minute, but I'm off to see Ralph McTell in Glasgow this evening.
Opportunityu came up a couple of days ago, so a great night is expected.
Funnily enough, I came across an old Facebook post of mine - I saw Ralph 5 years ago today in the very same venue as tonight. We are all creatures of habit (especially Leo in his profile pic).

I just saw Steve Gunn live with his Martin in a small venue in Brisbane. Excellent gig and the first gig for my wife and me since the pandemic.

Hi Ross! yeah, he was at least as good as last time, played his J45, his Martin and a 1934 National guitar (sounded awesome š). he also played a few songs on a lovely Steinway grand piano. he seemed more relaxed, very happy and told some great stories. He also played a new unrecorded song, Avalon, which I managed to recordā¦

Off to see Steeleye Span at the New Theatre, Oxford on Tuesday. Given the last time I was there I developed my lifetime aversion to opera* Iām hopeful of a better experience this time *a headmaster who wanted to invoke a little culture into his charges is totally to blame. Fortunately previous visits to the venue included Hawkwind and Mƶtƶrhead so I have more positive memories of the place.

I realised whilst I was there that one of my earliest musical memories was them performing āGaudeteā on Top of the Pops dressed as monks. It was also nearly 40 years to the day since that last traumatic visit.

Glad to hear Steeleye were good. I used to love them, "The Blackleg Miner" is one of the few things I can play reliably on banjo, and I find myself singing "Gaudete' at Christmas.
And like you, I have a great aversion to opera, thanks to my mother who (like your headmaster) wanted to make me a little more cultured. It didn't help that she was pretty rude and dismissive of the music I did like, which was a red rag to a teenage bull.
Oh, and while I'm here, let us not forget this...
