Someone as wise and urbane as colins will surely not be swayed by empty flattery and crude financial inducements. Rather, he will know that something as beautiful as his creation belongs in correspondingly breathtaking surroundings, which can of course only mean Yorkshire - God’s own country, where the importance of subtelty in encouragements is properly appreciated. I'm rather fond of Shropshire. Among its merits is being nearer to Yorkshire than Somerset and Hamilton. It’s only drawback is that it is not actually Yorkshire, home of hills and dales, Wensleydale cheese, Theakston, Sam Smiths and Timothy Taylor beers, Yorkshire Pudding, parkin, Taylor’s of Harrogate Tea, polo mints (and other Rowntrees products), Terry’s Chocolate Orange, Pontefract liquorice, rhubarb and - pause for fanfare - his Keithship of the clan ocarolan. Compared to this, what have even the Romans ever done for us? Bruan |
